Bound to Please (Michael Dirda) 2004
This is a collection of witty, erudite essays on books by the Pulitzer prize winning Michael Dirda of the Washington Post. It should appeal to readers looking for that next book to read. Dirda declares that his book "intentionally resembles a cocktail party more than a work of criticism: it’s meant to be entertaining, sometimes provocative, above all a way to catch up with old friends and make new ones." - the author is a great host. Only positive reviews are included for a wide range of books - science fiction, renaissance history, authors' letters, mysteries, French literature, classic works, etc. Dirda's other collection of more personal essays, Readings, is also highly recommended.
