On Writing (Stephen King) 2000
Stephen King gives a unique view of the writing craft in On Writing. There is much in this book for the reader as well as a writer. The first section of the book is a memoir that relates incidents that shaped King into a writer. He also addresses his battle with alcohol and drugs. The second section is all about writing. This section probably does not impart much information about writing that you couldn't find in numerous other books, but King's advice is very entertaining and useful. The last part of the book is his account of his run-in with a truck that almost killed him. A list of recommended books is contained in the appendix that would probably interest most readers. Rating: B.
