Perdido Street Station (China Mieville) 2000
China Mieville's Perdido Street Station is a highly inventive work. The blend of the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror was quick reading in spite of the book's bulk. The cityscape of New Crobuzon is a grotesque, yet fantastic creation. The story kept me riveted. However, I thought the ending was a little flat. China Mieville is thought to be one of the authors that is currently expanding the genre of SF & fantasy beyond its current boundaries. Rating: A.
